FAQs

My heater is not lighting.

Is your heater a new installation? Be patient, as it can take a few attempts for the fuel to draw up the line. If you have a mini timer or OLED control, use the fuel priming feature to speed things up (but read the instructions in the manual carefully first). If you’re using the rotary control, you may need to start the heater multiple times for the fuel to travel up the pipe and reach the heater. Be patient with it – It will get there!

90% of the time, if the heater is not lighting (fault 10, or single flash on rotary control) it is because of lack of fuel, or low voltage to the heater. Is there any smoke coming from the exhaust? If not, then there probably isn’t fuel there! If it’s blue, it’s unburnt diesel and you have a volage drop on the power loom and the glow pin can’t get hot enough to light the fuel. If it’s black, the heater needs a service and de-coke. If it’s white it may not be dosing properly. Check that you have an official MV fuel pump installed, there are no leaks from any of the rubber fuel pump connectors and that they are in good condition. Check for air bubbles, or obstructions in the line.

I don’t have a fault code.

Faults are displayed in several different ways. Make sure you are running the heater for a full cycle and not turning it off prematurely. Let it do it’s thing and wait for either the rotary control lights to shut off and begin to flash, or the mini timer or OLED controls to bring up an error code first before attempting to turn the heater on/off.

If you have a water heater/mini timer, you may need to press both arrow keys together on the display when the heater shuts down for a code to display.

Don’t walk away – If there are still no errors, wait with the control. Errors can disappear after a certain amount of time, so make sure you are by the control when the heater fails.

My water heater is overheating.

Is the heater body very hot, but the pipe work around it just warm? You most likely have sludge or even air in your coolant system that needs to be flushed out!

What is the difference between the MX50 and the Hydro 5?

They are both 5kW water heaters with subtle differences. The main difference is how they operate. The MX50 has a simple on/off switch whereas the Hydro 5 operates with a more complex digital display. They both however have the option to run off a separate room thermostat.

The MX50 is also a little easier to self-service as many of its parts come as assemblies making it easier to overhaul. The Hydro 5 is slightly smaller, making it preferable for tighter installation.

What is the difference between the Airo 2 and the MY20?

They are both 2kW air heaters that do the same job. The MY20 is our economical option for those on a tighter budget. It comes with a digital control and remote control as standard which makes it a good choice for the leisure user. The Airo 2 has Bluetooth smartphone control, with an optional remote control and SIM card module capabilities. As well as thermostatic modes, and a more comprehensive fitting kit. It is our flagship model with plenty of years of reliable experience out in the field!
